Signal Generators Details

The Grass Valley ADVC110 is a high-quality, bi-directional analog/digital video converter. Conversion is accomplished by transferring media data from an IEEE-1394 FireWire port and outputting through composite and Y/C video and unbalanced stereo audio connections, and vice versa.

Fluke Networks MS2-100 MicroScanner2 Cable Verifier

The Fluke Networks MS2-100 MicroScanner2 cable verifier verifies voice/data/video (VDV) cables and multimedia sources on common media types, including RJ11, RJ45, and coax. The meter displays a graphical wiremap, cable length, cable ID, and distance-to-fault. A tone generator produces digital and analog signals to locate cable or wire pairs. Digital mode locates high-grade cabling, including Category 5e, Category 6, and Category 6a in bundles or at switches, patch panels, and wall outlets. Analog mode verifies Category 3 and below voice-grade cabling, coax, security, alarm, and speaker wiring. VDV service detection verifies media services, including powered 10/100/1000 Ethernet switches, plain old telephone services (POTS) voltage and polarity, and Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) voltage and pairs. A backlit LCD is oversized for clear viewing in a variety of lighting levels, and a rubber holster protects the meter in rugged environments. Copper and fiber testers are used by network technicians to troubleshoot, maintain, and optimize performance of copper and fiber optic cabling, hardware connections, and network settings in enterprise networks.

Revolutionary Interface

Yesterday’s cable verification testers force users to toggle between up to four different modes of operation to view all test results. This not only slows the test process, but also causes frustration and leads to high user error rates. MicroScanner2 has defeated this convention by displaying key test results – wiremap, pair lengths, distance to fault, cable ID, and far end device – all on one screen. Plus it features an oversized, backlit LCD screen with the power to display wiremap results graphically, which brings unprecedented comfort and clarity to the user experience.

Multimedia Support

Tired of losing or breaking all the adapters needed for testing the various voice, data, and video media types? MicroScanner2 makes these awkward adapters things of the past with built-in RJ11, RJ45, and coax support. Both the main unit and the far-end identifiers can be used to test telephone jacks, Ethernet jacks, and CATV outlets right out of the box. Just one more way MicroScanner2 streamlines cable verification.

Locate elusive cables in seconds

MicroScanner2 features built-in IntelliTone digital and analog toning to precisely locate virtually any cable or wire pair, regardless of work environment. Use digital mode to locate high-grade data cabling (Cat 5e/6/6a) in bundles, or at switches, patch panels, or wall outlets. Or, use analog mode on voice-grade cabling (Cat 3 and below), as well as coax, security/alarm, and speaker wiring.

VDV Service Detection

Voice, data, video technicians have a lot more problems to deal with than just the cabling. They have to rule out a whole host of potential cable and service issues before determining the cause of a connection problem. MicroScanner2 acknowledges this, giving technicians high power vision to detect today’s most common service problems. Detect the presence of POTS voltage and verify polarity. Verify powered 10/100/1000 Ethernet switches at the far end. Or, confirm proper PoE voltage and pairs.

Fluke Networks MS2-KIT MicroScanner2 Professional Kit

Fluke Networks MicroScanner2 Professional Kit

The Fluke Networks MS2-KIT MicroScanner2 professional kit includes a MicroScanner2 cable verifier and an IntelliTone Pro 200 probe to verify cable functioning of new and existing copper and fiber network installations. IntelliTone Pro 200 probe detects IntelliTone digital signals, rejecting noise and false signals, to locate and trace data cabling on active networks. It detects 500 to 1,200 Hz analog signals to isolate individual wire pairs and trace voice, audio, and video cabling on non-active networks. The probe detects signals at cable racks, in patch panels, and even behind walls, and identifies detected signals audibly and with eight LEDs that light successively as the signal strength increases for prompt isolation of a single cable within a bundle. A sync LED shows battery strength at power-up and confirms reception of IntelliTone signals, and the cable map function allows the probe to validate the cable map on RJ11 and RJ45 connectors, testing continuity and finding shorts, opens, and crossed-pair wiring faults on all four pairs of UTP and STP twisted pair cabling. RJ11 and RJ45 jacks plug into a port on the bottom of the probe. The probe turns off automatically after one hour of inactivity.

Locate and Isolate Cabling

Isolate Terminated Cables: IntelliTone Pro Toner uses the unique properties of twisted pair cabling to create a balanced signal that minimizes the effect of signal bleed. The smart digital signal processing in the IntelliTone Pro Probe clearly identifies this signal with audio and LED visual indicators, allowing you to rapidly isolate the correct cable from a bundle or on a patch panel. IntelliTone eliminates hours of cable confusion—and you can count on getting it right the first time. Isolate Individual Wire Pairs: with traditional analog toners and probes, isolating individual wire pairs precisely can be almost impossible because of signal bleed between pairs. As a result, wire pairs are often routed and terminated incorrectly the first time. Redoing incorrect terminations or pulling new wiring wastes tremendous amounts of time and money. IntelliTone Pro’s SmartTone analog technology cuts out the guesswork and improves accuracy by providing definitive confirmation when the pair under test is located. Just short the pair under test, and the audible tone will change its cadence. The difference is dramatic.

Verify Cable Continuity

Eliminate callbacks during cabling moves, adds and changes with the powerful diagnostic capabilities of IntelliTone. IntelliTone Pro 200 Probe features a CABLEMAP capability that identifies common cable miswires in twisted pair cabling. IntelliTone technology automates the testing of each conductor for end-to-end continuity; LED lights and tones clearly indicate miswires such as opens, shorts or reversed pairs.

Tone Live Networks

Modern network devices use aggressive termination schemes for cables connected to their ports. While this termination reduces noise and crosstalk in the cable, it can also absorb an analog toner signal, making the connected cable impossible to detect with an analog audio probe. The result is that locating an unlabeled network can take hours with analog technology. Unlike analog signals, the IntelliTone digital signal stays strong despite common mode termination and IntelliTone Pro Toner automates toning individual cable conductors, making it quick, efficient and safe to locate cables on active networks.

Identify Telecom Services

Identify and diagnose POTS with multi-line Telco detect, polarity and ring indication. Service - is the RJ45 jack a datacom jack, a phone jack or a dead jack? IntelliTone Pro 200 Toners take the guesswork out of hunting for an active jack, or a jack with the right service. LEDs clearly identify common services found on today's networks, including telecom and datacom services and 10/100/1Gb Ethernet links. Telecom Troubleshooting - check telecom services with Line 1 continuity and polarity testing on the IntelliTone Pro 100 and 200 Toners. The IntelliTone Pro 200 Toner adds Line 2 troubleshooting. Confirm telecom circuits with the built-in talk battery capability.

Verify Ethernet Service

Perform moves, adds and changes with powerful diagnostic capabilities of the IntelliTone Pro 200 Toner & Probe. Toning: IntelliTone makes it easy to quickly locate the cable in the equipment closet when performing moves, adds and changes. Unconnected cable can be quickly isolated in the presence of bleed. Cablemap: IntelliTone Pro 200 Probe features a CABLEMAP capability that identifies common cable miswires in twisted pair cabling. Complete per-pin verification of TIA568 wiring identifies the exact wire that is open, shorted or miswired. LED lights and distinctive tones clearly indicate miswires. The built-in Cablemap feature eliminates the need to carry separate tools or returning to the far-end to replace the toner with a mapper. IntelliTone Pro 200 Kit is the all-in-one tool to locate and map Category 5 cabling even when plugged into a switch, and verify link service after moves, adds and changes. Verify Ethernet Service: is the link pulse correct, reversed due to a swap cable of uplink port, or MDIX capable? Identify active Ethernet services present at the office wallplate. LED lights clearly indicate the presence of normal, reversed or MDIX Ethernet link connectivity.

Datacom and telecom installation and test devices, such as toners and test sets, check cabling and wiring to help ensure proper connections and operation. Tone generator and probe sets, also called toners, are used to locate, trace, and isolate cables in copper media networks. Telephone test sets, also called butt sets, are specialized telephones that connect to telephone lines to check for proper operation and to isolate trouble. Some test sets incorporate a TDR (time-domain reflectometer) and toner for determining cable length and locating faults. While certain devices may be used on live networks, others are only suitable for inactive networks. Field technicians and installers use these devices to set up, maintain, and troubleshoot datacom and telecom cabling within a building or in outside plant (OSP) applications.

Fluke Networks, a division of Fluke Corporation, manufactures tools and software for network deployment, performance management, and troubleshooting. The company, founded in 1992, is headquartered in Everett, WA.
